Industrial Maintenance Mechanic: Introduction is the gateway course of a five-course series built for anyone who wants to start a solid career in industrial maintenance. You will learn what an industrial maintenance mechanic does and the four pillars that support work on the factory floor: preventive, corrective, predictive, and detective maintenance. You will learn to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturer manuals, understand the basic principles of hydraulics and pneumatics, and take your first steps with measuring instruments such as the caliper and micrometer. The course closes with lubrication, the basics of shaft alignment, and fundamental safety, including an introduction to NR 12. By the end, you will have the foundation you need to move on to the next four courses in the series — Technical and Operational Knowledge, Instrumentation and Diagnostics, Safety and Technical Standards, and Management and Documentation — and complete the full path to becoming a qualified industrial maintenance mechanic.
