Computer Skills for Public Service Exams
This course is for Brazilian public service exams (concursos públicos) and the lessons are taught in Portuguese. Computer skills is the subject many people leave for the last week, and it is exactly where the exam hides the easiest traps to avoid. This course is for people who use a computer every day but freeze when the exam board asks which shortcut does what, which protocol sends e-mail or which type of backup copies only what changed. It starts from zero and follows the order in which the subject usually appears in exam notices. Part one is Windows 11 and file management: File Explorer, folders, extensions, Recycle Bin, copying and moving by dragging, and the Windows key shortcuts. Part two is Word and Excel in Microsoft 365, always with the LibreOffice Writer and Calc equivalent: formatting, shortcuts in Portuguese, formulas, relative and absolute references and the functions that appear most. Part three is the internet, browsers and e-mail: URL, HTTPS, private browsing, cookies, advanced search, CC and BCC, and the SMTP, POP3 and IMAP protocols. Part four is information security: virus, worm, Trojan horse, ransomware, phishing, everyday scams, firewall, two-factor authentication and backup types. The last part is networks and cloud computing: LAN and WAN, switch and router, TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP, intranet and extranet, and IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. Each lesson ends with an exam-board-style question, solved step by step.
