Building Apps with AI APIs
A practical course for developers who already code and want to put a large language model inside a real product. You will make your first request from your own backend and understand roles, tokens, stop reasons and streaming; turn prompts into versioned templates and get JSON back that your code can trust with structured outputs; let the model call one of your functions with tool use; answer questions from your own documents with retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, chunking and citations; and get ready for production with cost and latency control, prompt caching, rate limits and retries, evals and safety against prompt injection. Every concept is vendor-neutral and shown with examples from the official Claude and OpenAI documentation, in Python.
